History of Panola County

Past Sheriffs

Deputy James Rudd  started working for the Panola County Sheriff's Department in January 1976 alongside the then newly elected sheriff, David M. Bryan.  He served as Chief Deputy until his retirement in 2005.  During his tenure, James Rudd was very instrumental in solving numerous crimes and enforcing the laws of Panola County and the State of Mississippi.  Rudd has always been able to meet with the people of Panola county, whether it be the victim or suspect, and gain their respect and cooperation.  He has always been a leader among men.  James Rudd continues to be an integral part of Panola County Sheriff's Department and we owe him a huge debt of gratitude for the job he has always performed and continues to perform.
